Kickin' Pidgeon (Picadilly Records)

20.00 – 02.00
Matt Ward aka Kickin' Pigeon has been at Piccadilly Records for the last 12 years - supplying the city's fervent music scene with the more obscure, esoteric and under-appreciated side of the spectrum that one might be used to. Indeed, there's been a few 'big name' DJs as well as a slew of celebrated, local jocks that have been more than pleasantly surprised with some of the out-there choices delivered to them through extended meetings at the shop.

Alongside this, he is co-founder of established Manchester lifestyle upgrade - Wet Play, the record label and club night that's took it's fair share of chances in advancing MCR's nocturnal philosophy - putting on parties in abandoned furniture units, African eateries, unsuspecting city boozers and the odd yet-to-be-gentrified loft space over their exciting eight year existence.

The last couple of years have seen his 'Galactic Bounce' radio show receive a dedicated listenership on NTS - touching on 'house, techno and alien vibrations from across the cosmos'.

Leave expectations, egos and hype at the door please, as Kickin' Pigeon takes us on a auditory vision quest of his record collection.

Classic Album Sundays manchester w/ Peter Hook & Colleen Murphy

14.00
Experience ’Technique’ in a way you never have before with Classic Album Sundays Manchester on 33 Oldham Street’s top notch sound system. Capacity is limited and we suggest you purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, as this event will sell out quickly.

"Technique", New Order's fifth studio album chronicles the impact of acid house on the band, marking the clearest statement of the rock and dance influences that were shaping their output. Released in January 1989, just after the bands infamous G-Mex gig and aftershow downstairs at The Hacienda in December 1988, it became New Order's first album to go to number one in the UK. It was also hugely successful in the United States where the influence of Quincy Jones' Qwest label regularly got the band's singles to the top of the American dance charts.

Tickets - SOLD OUT
