Simon Ham: bar session

19:00–02:00
Si has been collecting records since ” back in the day” and was heavily influenced by early Hip Hop, 80’s Electro and Disco Rap; at the time it was all about the breaks and beats and sampled Soul, Jazz, and Funk originals. Over the years his collection has vastly broaden along with his musical tastes. Now after nearly 30 years of digging Simon's sets explore a diverse mixture of genres – anything from Russian Folk Jazz to African/Latin Calypso from Dirty Brassy Disco to Jazz Fusion.

Andrea Trout: bar session

19:00–02:00
Andrea Trout may tell you she spins for fun - but don’t let that fool you. With deep house, disco, soul and funk at its core, Andrea’s open mindedness impacts on inevitably unhinged dancers and beard stroking listeners alike. There are precious few who can join the dots from new house to treasured boogie classics without struggling, worrying about perceptions of their cool or making a mess. Andrea makes it work every time because she feels it. Playing under the moniker Trout for most of the time this has not gone unnoticed. A typical review remarked, ‘hear a diversity of sounds from ‘80s soul to Brook Benton by way of good pop and funk from the future’.

Sam McEwan (Black Bee Soul Club): bar session

19:00–02:00
"I founded Black Bee Soul Club in 2012 with an emphasis on uptempo 60s soul and it quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting soul clubs in the UK. This led me to play across the country at some of the biggest and best known soul events including The Kings Hall All-Nighter, The Manchester European Soul Weekender, POW City in Belfast and Different Strokes to name a few. During this time I also became a resident at the legendary Twisted Wheel Club in Manchester, hosting the Freestyle Room at the Famous Sunday Sessions. I've always been an avid Rare Soul collector but my tastes spread much wider; you can find everything from 50s/60s r&b through latin and funk into 70s disco, crossover and afrobeat in my record box – Sam McEwan
